Green Germany

Introduction:

Do you know any German car brands? I bet you can name a few. Volkswagen, BMW, Audi, Mercedes, and Porsche are all German companies. But just because German cars are famous doesn’t mean that driving is the only way people get around here. Germans travel in a lot of different ways. In fact, these days, many people are trying to drive less. Instead, they take trains, ride bikes or go by foot. This helps keep the air clean. Protecting the environment is very popular in Germany, right now. That explains why so many people are trying to "go green" by finding other ways to travel, and ones that use less gasoline.

How do people get around?:

How people get around depends on how they live. Mallersdorf is rural, which means that people live farther apart. Because people are spread out, there are fewer buses and trains. Instead, most people get around using cars. Some of the laws about cars are different in Germany. Most streets in Germany have speed limits. However, there is no speed limit when you drive on the highway. But that doesn’t mean that everyone drives super fast. When I drive on the highway with my friends, they drive at a safe speed. Recently, a lot of people have started asking the government to put a speed limit on the highway for safety. In a few years, there might be more speed limits in Germany, as a result of actions like these.
