Ciao studenti a New York! (Hello students in New York!). I have been in Italy for six days now. To get here, I took a plane from Chicago, Illinois. Chicago is one of the larges cities in the United States! Chicago is about 13 hours by car from New York. Once I arrived at the airport in Italy, the other students and I were picked up in a green coach bus. This is similar to a big yellow school bus or a city bus, except this bus has very soft seats and had a built-in table. As we were traveling to the campus, I saw lots of farmland with fresh crops being grown. Have you heard of McDonald's or Burger King? These are some very famous food places in the United States. They have these in Italy also! As I was passing by McDonald's, I noticed Italians call their drive-thru a “McDrive.”

When I got to campus, I got a tour of the beautiful school grounds. The campus grounds are amazing and are filled with various plant life. Fun fact: The school is a boarding school for older Italian children and has been around since the 1990s. That is 30 years! Here I share the campus with elementary students like yourself. They take classes on the other side of the school, so I don’t see them every day. Sometimes I see them during lunchtime.
