Meeting the Metro

Introduction:

Since I was 16, I've had my license, and since I was 16, I've driven a car. It has been my main mode of transportation everywhere. However, after learning more about the environment and the current climate crisis that affects the entire world, I've wanted to be more conscious of my contribution to pollution and the degradation of non-renewable resources. This increased my eagerness to use public transportation during my time abroad.

How do people get around?:

Milano is a big, metropolitan city, and many people get around by walking. My friends and I could walk to any destination in 20 minutes. The metro is also a popular transportation source, and, fortunately, the trains were never overcrowded.

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

I surprised myself!  I loved getting around by train and walking. I definitely didn't think I would like it that much because of my culture back home, where I always drive everywhere. However, I decided to use my transportation options in Milan as a way to exercise, see the city, and immerse myself in a new culture.
