Costa Rica's biggest source of income is tourism, which means that most of the people who live here work to help people like you come to visit and see what their country is like. A big part of tourism is their environment! The people that serve on the Costa Rica tourism board make important decisions about the country's lush jungles, wildlife, adventure opportunities and beaches. So, the environment in Costa Rica is pretty important!
Costa Rica is a little country at the bottom of Central America. Down here, it's not so far between the Atlantic Ocean (through the Caribbean Sea) to the Pacific Ocean. Since oceans (including their heat, moisture, etc) have a huge effect on weather, that means there are two very different influences on the weather in the country. As a result, it's super lush and warm, filling it with a ton of biodiversity (different kinds of wildlife). Costa Rica is also on the Ring of Fire, which is a series of volcanoes that surround the Pacific Ocean. There are a lot of volcanoes in the country, as well as mountains, so you can see both tropical rainforest and what's called the "Cloud Forest." The Cloud Forest is a rainforest that's high enough in altitude that the clouds form around it, giving it a very eerie, mystical feeling.
