Mass Rapid Transit in Singapore

虽然新加坡是很小的国家,但是是人口众多的国家。所以公共交通工具对新加坡人很重要。

Translation:

Although Singapore is a small country, it is a country with a large population. Therefore, public transportation is very important to Singaporeans. 

How do people get around?:

新加坡有很多地铁线路和公车线路。百分之五十七人乘坐地铁和公车上班。地铁名称是大众捷运(MRT)。有6条地铁线路、162个车站。还有370多条公车线路。每天340万人乘坐捷运。

Translation:

Singapore has many subway lines and bus lines. 57% of people ride the subway and bus to work. The subway is called Mass Rapid Transit (MRT). There are six subway lines and 162 stops. There are also over 370 bus routes. Every day 3.4 million people ride the MRT.

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

新加坡公共交通系统非常高效,不过有很多规则。比如,你不能在车厢内吃食物或喝水。并且,每节地铁车厢和公车写着,“不允许携带榴莲,” 因为榴莲太臭了。

Translation:

Singapore's transportation system is very efficient, however, it has many rules. For example, you cannot eat food or drink water. Additionally, each subway car and bus states, "bringing durians (type of fruit) onboard is not allowed," because they are so stinky.

对啊!新加坡人选择使用公共交通是因为他们关心保护环境。他们想要改善交通,减少污染。
