Hi, everyone! This week has been very eventful for me! I have family in Granada, Spain which is about a five and a half hour bus ride away from Madrid. My family members and I have never met in person or had much contact until I was able to come study abroad in Madrid. My relatives in Granada are originally from El Salvador, and they moved to Granada, which is a vibrant city in Spain that is smaller than Madrid. The drive from Madrid to Granada consisted of leaving the bustling city and driving through a lot of grasslands and acres of farmlands full of crops and animals such as horses, sheep, goats, cows and chickens, to name a few!

Granada is just as beautiful as Madrid, but it is not as populated or loud as Madrid. Madrid is known as a hugely popular tourist destination, with vibrant street performances. Granada felt like a relaxing getaway destination, or the kind of place you want to visit when you want to be surrounded by Spanish culture but want rest and peace and quiet as well! I was suprised that to get around in Granada, I only had to take one metro, rather than jumping off to catch other metros to get to my destination, as I have to do in Madrid. The metro was also not underground entirely, as it is in Madrid, and it did not announce every stop over the speaker overhead.
