Hello everyone! My name is Paige, I’m 23 years old, and I am a student at Brown University studying international relations. For my second semester of Sophomore year, I decided to study abroad in Granada, Spain–so I am writing to you all from across the world!

To help cover the costs of traveling to secret beach towns, exploring pueblos in the mountains, visiting museums with friends and eating amazing bread and cheese every day while I am abroad–I applied for the Gilman scholarship. The Gilman offers additional funds to support my time here in Spain and as part of the program’s follow-on service project, I chose to participate in Reach the World. I am excited to begin sharing my experiences in this country as a nontraditional college student with your classroom!

Both Squalicum and Ms. Campbell hold a special place in my life, as I had the privilege of being in her amazing AP Literature class during my senior year of high school! I graduated from Squalicum in 2019, and in high school, I was an active member of the Future Business Leaders of America club, threw Javelin for the track and field team, was a member of speech and debate and became incredibly outspoken with a group of my peers regarding the issue of gun control.
