After almost 10 months in Colombia, this chapter is coming to an end. It has been a thrilling ride, with many ups and downs, but it's been fulfilling. It has also been amazing to share this experience with you all and show you the many wonders this country has to offer. I owe my gratitude to the opportunity Fulbright gave me and for trusting me to become a cultural ambassador for them.
Fulbright is an international exchange program founded in 1946 with the mission of extending mutual relations with countries around the world. Today, there are fellowships and grants in over 160 partner countries. I participated in the English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) program, where we assist local English teachers in their classrooms while serving as representatives of the US. The academic level varies by country, and placements can range from urban to rural areas of the designated country. The ETA program is fundamental in cultural diplomacy as it provides students around the world with the opportunity to interact and learn from an English native speaker. It is also a unique opportunity for us to learn and understand how to foster international understanding between the US and the rest of the world.
