I am currently living with a host family in Spain. A host family is a family that lets students stay in their home while the students are studying in that family's country. I live with my host mom and another student who is doing the same program as me.
My host mom is a very good cook, and she loves cooking for us every day. She likes to try new recipes and sometimes changes them to make them healthier. My host mom cares a lot about our health, sometimes even more than we do! She wants us to have strong bodies and enough energy to study. Here, we have to walk around a lot, so it's important to eat good and healthy things.
Living with my host family has helped me learn about Spanish culture and food.
The food prepared by my host mom is amazing, so I have liked everything she has cooked for me so far! I have eaten paella de verduras, which is a meal of rice and vegetables. It was very good and heathy! I have also eaten meals of fried eggplants, chickpeas, potato, zucchini and tomato. You can easily find these meals in restaurants here; however, the ones that my host mom cooks are more healthy and fresh. There are so many restaurants here in Salamanca, and you can mostly get from one place to another by walking. I usually eat lunch and dinner at my host house. I only eat crossaints and other desserts when I go out to eat.
