Shanik (pronounced Sha-neek) is a 14-year-old girl living in La Calera, a community southeast of Quiroga, a small mountain town. She is smart, responsible and social, with big dreams for the future.
Over the weekend, I took a four hour drive and visited the Amazon rainforest! There was so much cool wildlife. I joined a group of children on a long hike led by Meliza Andy, an indigenous woman.
