Recently, I traveled to some of the many mountains that surround Oaxaca. I hiked through the mountains and saw beautiful flowers, waterfalls, deep-seated rock formations and a view of nothing but mountains for as far as the eye could see.
I have traveled to Mexico City, which is about 285 miles from Oaxaca. I stayed in a neighborhood called San Rafael, close to the city's center. Mexico City is completely different from Oaxaca as it is a metropolitan city with millions of people. I saw street art, historical landmarks and ate some of the best food I have ever had, in their Mercado.
I got around using public buses and by walking.
This week was Dia de los Muertos, so I visited many cemeteries! During this holiday, locals decorate the graves of their loved ones with candles, marigolds and other beautiful flowers and offerings. I enjoyed seeing the way people here honor their dead and how it is a strong part of their culture.
