Spanish is the main language that is spoken in Ecuador. Very few people here know English.
Ecuador adapted the U.S. dollar as their currency in 2000. It now only uses U.S. bills and U.S. coins. Ecuador has its own versions of all of the coins as well as a gold dollar coin.
A bottle of water in the grocery store cost 30 cents, while from a restaurant or other stores it usually cost 50 cents
My host mom loves to cook! All of her meals are great, but the best one this week was rice and beans, plaintains, and potato and cheese soup.
I found it interesting that they play popular American music in many of the restaurants I have visited. I've been hearing music from home all week!
The most fun activity this week was getting to meet and talk with Ecuadorian high school students about their families, their school, and what they like to do in their free time. I learned about some of the differences in their lives compared to those of American students.
