I have to admit, her song La Vie en Rose ("Life in Rosy Hues") has a sound that I completely associate with Paris. I’ve been playing Piaf songs while walking around, and it is incredible how much the music adds to the charm of this city.
I really enjoy letting myself wander around the city and exploring that way. Specifically, walking along the path by the River Seine was just a beautiful experience and gave me the feeling of walking in a space that Parisians have been walking in for hundreds of years. It is fun seeing all of the boats on the river, observing locals and tourists walking about enjoying their day, and it was incredible seeing the Eiffel Tower up close!
Signs. Lots of signs in the city with advertisements, rules of the road for cars, Métro signs, and even sign displays at the Paris Museum of Natural History. Online I have read some articles on the website of France24.com, a huge international news network based in Paris that broadcasts all over the world.
I didn't get to play any games or sports this week, but I look forward to joining a gym (gymnase or gym) in a couple of weeks and meeting local friends that way.
A friend recently told me a joke that I thought was pretty funny but that only makes sense if you understand a little French! You have to know that the word for “Thursday” in French is "jeudi". So, here’s the joke:
“What do French people call a really bad Thursday?”
“A trajeudi”
Get it??
