Our News

What main languages are spoken here?:

Swedish and English are both spoken here. Within the city, you can get around just fine by speaking English.

What type of money is used here?:

Swedish Krona (SEK). It's a little bit more expensive than the U.S. dollar, but as long as you can move the decimal place over two places, you can have a rough estimate of the price of an item. For example, 100 SEK is worth about $11.61 USD.

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

I'm not exactly sure, since we Americans always carry a water bottle with us! The city water is very clean, so we all just refilled from the tap.

What was the best meal this week?:

Swedish meatballs (or köttbullar in Swedish). Based on a recommendation, I went to one of the best Swedish meatball places in Stockholm, called "Meatballs for the People". I ate the meatballs with the traditional lingonberries.

What music did I listen to this week?:

I listened to a song called "Bara få va mig själv," by Laleh. My Swedish teacher introduced the artist to us, and I love her songs!

What activity was the most fun this week?:

Going ice skating in the central park in Stockholm called Kungsträdgården with my friends. Some of my friends did not have good balance on ice skates, though!
