What main languages are spoken here?:

In the city of Toulouse, which is close to Spain, and was once a part of a different territory before joining France, the you hear French sometimes mixed with Spanish as well as the language Occitan (Oxy-tan). Occitan is an older regional language that was once spoken from all the way from Toulouse to Monaco and some parts of Italy as well. Major street signs are written in French and Occitan in Toulouse.

In Switzerland, there are four national languages: German, French, Italian and Romansh, and 60% of the population speak English as well. When the country was formed, different regions had different languages based on which country they were closest to. To avoid tension between the populations, all four languages became official languages with each region representing a different language.

What type of money is used here?:

In Switzerland, they use the Swiss Franc ($1.10 to one Swiss franc). Switzerland is one of the richest countries in the world, but it is also one of the most expensive countries in the world. For example, 9-piece chicken nuggets were 15 Swiss Francs ($16.45). I refused to pay almost $17 for chicken nuggets, so we didn’t stay at that McDonalds for long. (For only a 9-piece?!)

What was the best meal this week?:

Toulouse had some of the best food I have eaten on this whole trip.
