Our News

What main languages are spoken here?:

Everyone on the ship speaks English. For some people on the boat, English is their second language. There are a couple of people on the boat who are from France, so they will talk to each other in French. One scientist on board is German, as well as people on board from Japan, India, Canada, and allover the world!

What type of money is used here?:

The ship is based out of Australia, so most of the time, people talk about money in terms of Australian dollars. Right now one Australian dollar is equal to 0.66 U.S. dollars.

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

On the boat, they have water bottle refill stations so everyone just fills up reusable water bottles! Thankfully, we have easy access to clean water at no cost.

What was the best meal this week?:

The cooks make really good Indian food! The best meal this week was a curry dish that had lentals and chickpeas in it. They served it with mashed potatoes, as well as cooked vegetables and salad. My favorite dessert that we had this week was a rhubarb and apple crumble with ice cream. Yum! It was absolutely fantastic for life on the ship!

What music did I listen to this week?:

The cooks listen to music in the kitchen while they work, so if you are sitting in the mess, you can hear their music playing. They listen to a lot of 60s, 70s, and 80s rock and pop.
