Lo-fi is a type of music that is upbeat and calming, and it has no lyrics. In my Spanish class, the professor played songs by famous Spanish artists, such as Enrique Iglesias, to help us learn more about Spanish music. Since I grew up with Enrique Inglesias’s music, it felt nostalgic to hear it in class.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

I would say the most fun activity this week was my first cooking lesson! The class started at 8:00 p.m. and ended at 10:30 p.m. because people in Valencia typically eat dinner very late compared to people in the United States. We made paella Valenciana and fideuà de mariscos. I liked both meals so much that I got a second plate of food!

What did I read this week?:

This week, I got to read a book called Ichigo Ichie. It’s a book focused on learning about Japanese culture and seeing how Japanese people appreciate the world around them. I love learning about different lifestyles across the world through reading.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

I got to play Minecraft online with my brothers this week! We all have little survival world projects that we are working on, such as an underwater dome, bee garden and bunker. Even though I am far away from family, it feels like home to spend time gaming with my brothers.

Other news from this week:

I went to the Patatas Bravas Festival this weekend, which translates to the “Spicy Potato Festival”! The festival had ten food stations who competed for the best patatas brava of Valencia. As someone who loves spicy food, I really enjoyed patatas bravas for their savory flavor and spiciness!
