This week I listened to "Little Lies" by Fleetwood Mac, "I'm This" by Peter Cat Recording Co., and "Hound Dog" by Big Mama Thornton. I sadly didn't integrate any new Brazilian music into my playlists this week.
My friend and I randomly happened upon a bloco, a block party that takes over the entire street, spilling out of a bar with super fun live music. We danced for four hours and made so many new friends. In Brazil, the things you don't plan always end up being the most fun.
I am trying to start a book called Narinja by Jokha Alharthi that I picked up in a small bookstore in São Paulo, but I would be lying if I said that I read any of it this week. It is about an orange tree, and it will be the first full book I have read entirely in Portuguese. Wish me luck!
Although I did not take part in any sports, I watched a local football game that was being played in my neighborhood. Brazilians are very active, and it is very common to be involved in one, if not two or three, sports teams during adulthood. I am planning on joining a basketball and a volleyball team once I am back in Manaus.
I knit my first top! I learned how to knit about one month ago, and I got to use my cute yarn from São Paulo. It is importantly to keep up with the habits that you had back home, like crafting, when you travel to a new place and assimulate into a new culuture. It is helpful in keeping you stable and feeling more connected to yourself.
