Our News

What was the best meal this week?:

I went to a restaurant in the old city section of Marburg that is called the Altstadt with some friends in the middle of the week. I had a classic dish of my city called Auflauf, which is a type of casserole. You can get the dish with noodles, potatoes, or rice and in comes out in a very hot dish right out of the oven. I got a noodle Auflauf with cheese and spinach. It tasted like fancy mac and cheese!

What music did I listen to this week?:

There is quite a bit of American music here! There is a good chance that the songs that are very popular back in the U.S. are on the radio here too. There is also a very interesting German music scene. I often go on Spotify to the Top 50 playlist for Germany and listen to music to practice my German, but also to hear what is popular back home!

What activity was the most fun this week?:

One of the fellow Americans with my Fulbright scholarship that is based in another city in Germany came to visit. I got to show him all of the sights (or Sehenswürdigkeiten) in Marburg. This includes the trail with many statues dedicated to the famous fairytales that were written here, the castle at the top of the old city, and the very old churches. I will be showing you all these sights in the upcoming weeks!

What did I read this week?:

I have been reading many papers for my research! A few weeks ago I finished the final book I brought in English, meaning that I will now have to switch to reading in German. I also like to stay up-to-date on the news of Germany and the U.S. so I know what is going on where I currently am, as well as back home in the US.
