What main languages are spoken here?:

Across Belize, many languages are spoken. English, Spanish, and Belizean Kriol are the most popular ones. Other languages like Garifuna, German, Chinese, and the three different types of Mayan: Yucatec Maya, Mopan Maya, and Q'eqchi' Maya are spoken in certain areas of the country. At my site, the languages that are mostly used here are Kriol, English, and Garifuna.

What type of money is used here?:

The country mostly uses the Belize Dollar, but sometimes you can find US dollars. US dollars are common because of the connection between the US and Belize. Many Belizeans live in the US and you can find them in enclaves in major cities like Chicago and New York. Plus, US dollars make their way here through American tourists who visit. One US dollar is equal to two Bz dollars.

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

Most people and students buy "shilling water", which is a small bag of water that costs one shilling (one Belizean quarter). For sporting events, you can often find “bag water”, which is a $6bz bag of shilling waters. Otherwise, five-gallon jugs are used in offices and homes, which costs $6bz.

What was the best meal this week?:

One of my favorite meals I had was a stuffed jack.
