This week, I did a Super Bowl trivia activity with my students, and they knew almost nothing about the event. They were shocked by all the new information they learned, but especially that there has been one Albanian football player in the NFL. The winning team received a collection of American treats like Gushers, Fruit Roll-Ups, Oreos, Reese’s and Cheez-Its. They absolutely love American candy, and when I asked what food they wanted to try the most, almost all of them said Chipotle and Crumbl Cookies.
Just started reading a new book Të Lirë (Free). It's all in Albanian. While I'm here I want to improve my Albanian as much as possible! The author details her experiences growing up during and after the fall of communism, the same time my parents were here.
I have not played any sports this week, but I am excited to introduce all my classes to March Madness! I'm going to introduce students to American basketball and have them make their own brackets and compete!
My school is going to do an event for Black History month next week. I have been helping students put this together. They will talk about the importance of Black history month, discuss famous civil rights activists and showcase famous Black writers, actors and singers.
