Our News

What activity was the most fun this week?:

My favorite activity this week was a walk along the coast! I walked about 2.5 miles (or 4.02 kilometers) from Santa Margherita Ligure (where my hotel was) to the town of Portofino. It was a beautiful walk though some amazing nature, and was so peaceful. I walked with one of my friends, and we didn't pass too many other people on the trail. My favorite part was coming around a corner and suddenly seeing the ocean through a gap in the trees!

What did I read this week?:

This week I haven't done much reading for fun, but I have been doing some reading for school. Mostly on the history of the towns we're staying in, the buildings we're visiting, and the architects who designed it all! I've also been trying to practice my Italian by reading all the signs and menus in Italian first before translating them.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

This week I haven't played any sports, although I have observed many soccer games happening around town in public sqaures. I have played some card games though, my friends in my college program have been teaching me new card games we can play at dinner, since dinner at a restaurant here usually lasts two or three hours. My favorite new game I learned was Kings Corner, a card game played by four or five people.

Other news from this week:

This week I got to move into an apartment in the town of Vicenza! While we are here the next two month I'll be an apartment with three other girls from my program. It is a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom on the top floor, and had beautiful views of the neighborhood. It's a nice change from living in hotels for the last three weeks!
