Our News

What activity was the most fun this week?:

This week in The Gambia, for one of my work projects, I collaborated with a teacher at the school and the village nurse to host a reusable menstrual pad workshop with 25 girls at the school in my community. I had a lot of fun working with the students, and I enjoyed teaching the girls a new skill. In Portugal, the most fun thing I have done so far is a bike tour! We biked about 35 miles all around Lisbon, Sintra and Cascais. I loved exploring different parts of Portugal by bike.

What did I read this week?:

During my free time, I love reading all different genres of books. Wolof is a spoken language, so it is difficult to find any books written in Wolof. Therefore, I only read books written in English. Recently, I finished a book about hunger and malnutrition in Africa and the agricultural efforts that are being done to improve these humanitarian crises.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

Before I left for The Gambia, I brought a couple of decks of cards and the game, Uno, with me. I enjoy teaching my family different card games that we can all play together. I also attended a couple of soccer games between my community’s team and neighboring villages. Otherwise, I enjoy taking evening runs or walks.

Other news from this week:
