Our News

It was fun seeing how Mexican food is served in Prague, and it also made me a little nostalgic for Houston. We ended up talking with the owner for a while about some of the differences between Mexico and the Czech Republic. It also felt really nice to speak Spanish with someone outside my class, especially while being so far from home.

What did I read this week?:

I read A LOT. Most of my reading was for my classes: Cross-Cultural Psychopathology readings on somatic disorders, Political and Cultural History readings on Czechoslovakia, Germany and the Munich Agreement, and Art & Architecture readings on Gothic and Romanesque styles. I was also studying for my Art & Architecture midterm, so I’ve been looking at buildings around Prague and trying to guess their architectural style.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

I didn’t play many games or sports this week because of exams, but I went to a Sparta Prague hockey game at the O2 Arena! It was my first time seeing a hockey game here, and the atmosphere was amazing. The crowd was loud, energetic and VERY invested in the game.

Other news from this week:

I’ve been studying for my Czech Art & Architecture midterm, so now I catch myself looking at random buildings around Prague thinking: "Is that Gothic or Romanesque?" Studying architecture while actually living around the buildings we talk about in class has been one of the coolest parts of this program.
