I didn't hear many different languages this week. I mostly just heard English. I got excited at one point, maybe Thursday, when I met another Spanish speaker. The Latin population is super small here at less than one percent, so I jump at any chance I get to speak Spanish. Though I've only been away six months, I can tell that my Spanish is already getting a little rusty.
People use credit cards differently out here than they do back home. Instead of inserting your card into a chip reader or swiping, you tap your card against the card reader and it accepts your payment. I wish we had machines like these at home. It's way faster and easier.
A bottle of water costs around four or five Australian dollars. Since each Australian dollar is worth about 72 cents USD. it's a little less expensive than it might originally appear.
The best meal I had this week was probably a sausage roll. They're a pretty everyday food around here that isn't really considered special. But I can't get enough of them! As a portable snack with bread and a protein filling, they offer pretty much everything you need!
