In Italy, street performers play music everywhere. I love turning onto a new street and hearing a new tune. I often stop to listen when I can and enjoy having the music as the background for my wandering.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

When in Rome, I visited the Colosseum. In ancient Rome, this is the stadium where the emperor would watch fights between armed gladiator, which sometimes led to one or both fighters being killed! I learned that this was a form of entertainment for all of the citizens of Rome, and people would line up to get tickets to watch the fight. Built in 70 AD, the Colosseum is the largest amphitheater ever constructed.

What did I read this week?:

I love to read when I travel because it relaxes me and helps me enjoy vacation time! This week, I left my Michelle Obama book at home and started reading a new novel called All the Light We Cannot See. It is set during World War II and tells the story of two people falling in love during difficult times. It is a beautiful story, and I cannot wait to finish it!

What games or sports did I play this week?:

When I travel, it is hard to play sports or games, but one good thing is that I walk everywhere! I love to see as much as I can in a city, even if it is just how streets and shops look. The best way to do this is to walk everywhere. On top of that, some of the best views are from the tops of cathedrals. I climbed up 463 steps to reach the top of Florence's Duomo (cathedral dome), and the views over the city from there were breathtaking!
