The weather this week in Cajamarca was not great. It rained hard every single day this week except for Thursday and Friday. Thursday was a cloudy grey day that looked like it could have rained any second. Friday, though, was very beautiful, with sun all day, cool air, and a gentle breeze that would blow by. Peru doesn't have all the seasons like in some parts of the U.S. In Peru, we say there is the rainy season or the dry season. The rainy season is when it's much colder and it rains a lot, and dry season is when there is rarely rain and the days are hotter. Right now we are transitioning from the rainy season to the dry season, so my prediction is that we just had the last week of rain before everything dries up.
Not many exotic animals live in Cajamarca. You'll find your typical farm animals and lots of street dogs. Most people have chickens, guinea pigs, sheep and cows. There are lots of cows here; it's what our region is known for. The region of Cajamarca is famous for its milk and milk products. When someone you know travels there, you ask them to bring you back a product. It's either milk, butter or, most famously, the cheese.
