As a result, stores charge a bit more for colder drinks to pay for the price of chilling them in the fridge. The brand I buy, called San Luis, is around 1.50 soles or 2.50 soles depending on the size of the bottle.
The best meal I had this week was my host mom's chicken, rice, and lettuce plate. She made homemade spicy sauce and grilled the chicken to perfection. The lettuce was seasoned with salt and pepper and the dressing was lime juice. The rice was plain, but with some spicy sauce it was delicious. It was a simple meal, but it was the best meal of the week because it was comforting and tasty.
Peruvian Cumbia music is played everywhere here in Cajamarca. In stores, in restaurants, in every taxi and van, it's on all the time. All week I have been listening to this one specific song called "Carinto" by Los Hijos del Sol. It's a classic in Peru.
This Friday, I got together with my friends to celebrate the end of our Peace Corps service. We will soon be leaving Peru to travel around South America and return to the U.S., so we had a fun last night all together in our region of Cajamarca. It was night to celebrate, tell old stories, and meet up with our lovely Peruvian friends. We went to our favorite places and said some hard goodbyes. I am forever grateful for my fellow Peace Corps volunteers and the memories we made together.
