December 6th in Luxembourg: Kleeserchersdag!

For instance, the Dräikinneksdag holiday on January 6th celebrates the Three Wise Men, and Liichtmëssdag on February 2nd entails having children hand-make lanterns and roam the local streets singing songs. (Look up pictures, it is quite cool!)

Is this tradition connected to its environment? How?:

Luxembourg, as part of Europe, gets colder and darker in the winter than Oklahoma does in the United States. When I’ve spoken to Luxembourgers here, they often say that they have so many holidays in order to “get through” the gloomier months. It rains almost every day here, and even when it is day, there are dark clouds in the sky. I think this tradition connects to the environment in that it shows a natural human reaction to prolonged darkness; we like to make our own light!
