Hey, my name is Precious Letchaw. I am 21 years old and grew up in sunny San Diego, California. I've always enjoyed the mountains, beaches and forests around San Diego, and I also love helping people, expressing my artistic side, and being a leader. My leadership skills started growing in middle school, and I continue to participate in many youth-centered community initiatives.
I am currently a first-generation San Diego State University student studying for a Bachelor's degree in social work on a full-ride scholarship. When I'm not in class, I am a teaching artist with the San Diego Opera and youth advocate with an organization called Youth Will. This work helps me imagine a better future for myself and my community.
This fall, I am studying abroad in Ghana. I chose to study here because my family ancestry traces back to Ghana. This is an academic journey, but also a search for identity and roots. I love exploring Ghanaian culture, whether through local food, language, history or nature. I am also observing how social justice issues are handled in a different country with different resources. I hope you'll join me for this adventure... I cannot wait to have this experience together!
