México is a huge country with a diversity of cultures, ecosystems and lifestyles. I wanted to learn more about the daily life here and what people do regularly, so I sat down with my friend Albert (who I met when I moved to Mérida) to ask about his daily life and family here in México!
Albert Adolfo Pech Balam (my last names are of Mayan ancestry)
I live in the city of Mérida, Yucatán, but I was born in Cancún in the state of Quintana Roo, México. My house is not very large but has room for 4 people. The house consists of a living room, the dining room and the kitchen, and I also have a cozy space to chat with friends and family; in this space we can eat and drink coffee and wine. The house has a small yard in the back with some flooring, and a large space for two cars and a few outdoor grills in the front.
My family is a little big: My mom and my brothers live in another city, I am the oldest of the children. We are four brothers and one sister - she is the youngest. We all finished college and are now working. I have a 5-year-old nephew who looks a lot like me - several people say he looks like my son, but he's my nephew. His name is Brilan and we see each other very often to go on adventures and trips together.
