During my 4 months in Mexico thus far, I have learned so much. I've grown in my understanding of different perspectives and customs by way of experiencing cultural traditions such as Dia de Muertos and Hanal Pixan--learning about the true customs behind these traditions opened my eyes to the significance that they hold in Mexico and why.
Furthermore, I have cheered at the top of my lungs for wrestlers during Lucha Libre matches as they represent their culture and entertain generations. And, more significantly, I have made bonds with people who have so generously welcomed me into their country, city, family, culture and home! These are bonds I will work to stregthen and maintain far beyond my time here. These bonds will be a great source of comfort during times when I miss my family and friends from home. And these bonds, with my friends in Mexico and you all in New York, will be my most cherished gifts when I leave in 5 months. Overall, I am so happy to have been able to share this journey with you. Every week I look forward to writing and would be even more excited to see your smiling faces during our video calls.
