안녕하세요 (an-nyeong ha-se-yo!) Hello, Creekside Elementary School fifth-graders! My name is Priscilla Riggs, and I'm excited that you guys will follow along with my adventures in Seoul, South Korea, this spring through a virtual exchange journey! Seoul is the capital of South Korea, a country in East Asia. It is a busy and exciting city with delicious food, fascinating traditions, and modern technology. I chose to study in Seoul to learn about South Korea's culture, language, and history. I'm excited to explore the country, meet new people, and prepare for the future I dream of—teaching and working in South Korea!
I grew up in Upton, Kentucky, a small city with more cows than people. I lived in a home where people were often unkind and unfair, especially to girls. I was told that because I was a girl, my dreams didn't matter, and I wouldn't be able to do great things. It was a difficult and scary place to live. While my home life encouraged me to think small, Creekside Elementary School showed me that I could do big things even at a young age!
As a fifth grader at Creekside—just like you!—I was selected to be part of our school's very first VEX IQ Robotics team, Team 11324.
