As I got older, I had a special opportunity to visit classrooms where kids were learning English as their second language. This experience made me realize how much I love teaching and learning about how people communicate in different languages. Now, I'm working hard to reach my goal of teaching English in South Korea before eventually using my business and language skills to work for a Korean company!
Right now, I'm a college student at Western Kentucky University studying marketing and global business—basically, how companies share their products and ideas with the world. I'm also learning about writing and how to teach English to people from all around the world. Some of you may already know me as Ms. P! I work as a substitute teacher and a School Age Child Care (SACC) worker, so I spend lots of time with kids throughout Hardin County Schools.
I work as a writing tutor at my university and help students improve their writing skills. Before that, I worked at a bookstore and loved reading fantasy books with dragons, fairies, and other magical creatures. When I'm not studying or working, I love listening to music, learning new languages, and exploring new places—which is exactly what led me to Seoul, South Korea!
I've now been in Seoul, South Korea, for a little over a week—how exciting is that? I'm here to study abroad at Yonsei University for the spring semester! My goal is to learn more about how businesses work in South Korea compared to the U.S., improve my Korean language skills, and experience what it's like to live in a country where English is not the main language. Since I hope to live and work here one day, this is a big step toward my dream.
