Yonsei Global used the program fee to cover lodging, transportation, and food. About 20 Korean and 20 international students went on the YG MT; it was all about having fun and learning about each other's cultures.
On a rainy Saturday, we all met at school and got on a bus to head to a place called 상수리나무펜션 (sang-su-ri-na-mu-pen-syon), or Oak Tree Pension—a cozy guesthouse in the countryside (about an hour and 20 minutes away). We relaxed a bit when we arrived and then jumped into the fun!
Let the Games Begin!
We started with a game you might recognize from the popular Netflix series Squid Game—빨간 불, 초록 불 (ppalgan bul, chorok bul), or Red Light, Green Light! But in Korea, they sing something different: "무궁화 꽃이 피었습니다" ("Mu-gung-hwa kko-chi pi-ot-sseum-ni-da"). It means "The Mugunghwa Flower has bloomed"—that's Korea's national flower! We had to freeze when the person finished singing. If you moved—uh-oh—you were out!
Next up was Human Bingo! We got bingo sheets where each box said cool things like:
We had to walk around, talk to each other, and find someone who matched each box. If they did, we wrote their name down—but only once per person! When everyone had filled their sheets, we gathered in the center of the room and formed a circle. Going around the circle, we each said the name of someone on our sheet. If that person's name was on your sheet, you put an X over it. We did this until someone called "Bingo!"
After that, we played the XO Game!
