Tió de Nadal

Why does the community have this tradition?:

As a part of Christmas celebrations, Tió brings small presents for everyone. Bigger presents are considered to be brought by The Three Wise Men. It is a fun and exciting way for kids to get small presents and use up some energy.

Is this tradition connected to its environment? How?:

The lore surrounding the Christmas Log refers back to the Catholic tradition in Spain by ensuring that big presents can only be brought by The Three Wise Men. In the past, praying was a part of the Tió de Nadal tradition, but that has changed in recent years. Just like in everything else, as the values of the time change, so too do traditions evolve.
