Hi everyone! I am a graduate of Irondale High School, Class of 2020. Mr. Wood was also my particle physics teacher! I enjoy doing physics research, which has included work on developing a space mission to collect ice on the moon, to doing very theoretical work in particle physics. When I was a senior at Irondale, I developed an experiment with the cosmic ray detector, and Mr. Wood helped me collect data and understand how the detector works.
Outside of research, I like to read. My favorite book is Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison, and my favorite genres are science fiction and classic literature (although I read almost everything). Feel free to add me on Goodreads! I also played cello in the symphony orchestra and bass guitar in jazz band. Some of my favorite video games to play are Cuphead and Mario Kart.
I graduated from Cornell University in May of this year, where I studied astrophysics with a minor in physics. I was in a research group for about three years, which I am still part of. There, I was able to use data from the Cosmic Microwave Background (evidence for the Big Bang) to learn about asteroids in our solar system. This was cool work because these are typically very different fields in astronomy, but I was working in both.
