Our News

What activity was the most fun this week?:

We went on an amazing full day hike up to an elevation of 3,850 meters! We hiked about twelve miles total that day and were sore for days afterward. Our tour guide on the hike was very knowledgeable. I talked to him about Colombian history and politics for at least an hour. He was actually part Muisca and was still very connected to his ancestry, or his family background.

What did I read this week?:

For most of the week, I was reading a travel guide about the towns in Boyacá that we were visiting. I wanted to understand more than just the interesting sites. I found the history of the region very interesting.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

I didn't really play any games or sports, though the 12-mile hike certainly was a physical excursion!

Other news from this week:

We visited three different towns in Boyacá that are each famous for a different reason. First, we went to Sogamoso, where we had a delicious trout dish not far from Lago de Tota. Next, we checked out Monguí, a town famous for its deserts! We had a yummy tres leches cake, which has a vanilla, caramel and sweet flavor. Our last stop was Nobsa, where you can discover finely made crafts from wool, wood and leather. I took advantage of the amazing goods, and bought an alpaca sweater for my Mom.
