Muraho (Hello)! Nature in East Africa is much different than what we are used to in Kentucky! I am assuming that it is getting chilly at home, and the leaves are turning yellow and brown?
Here in Rwanda, we are in full swing of the rainy season. It usually rains at least once per day and when it does, the sky gets really dark, the wind is very strong and the temperature drops around five degrees. Sometimes people do not even go to work on time if it is raining in the morning! When it rains a lot, transportation is really slowed down and Kigali is not necessarily equipped to stay mobile in the midst of storms. However, since it has been raining so much, grass and plant-life are vibrantly green-colored, even more than they were just a few weeks ago!
There are many types of animals here in Rwanda, similar to what you see at home in the farms of Kentucky. Although they are more common in the rural part of Rwanda, Kigali does have many farmlands on the outskirts of the city.
One important plant to Rwanda is its banana tree. It is one of the most commonly eaten fruits here, and there are two kinds. First, there are fruity bananas that are sweet (what we are used to) called umuneke in Kinyarwanda (pronounced oo-moo-neck-ay).
