Hello!
I’m Sabrina, and I am currently following my dreams of teaching English abroad! I was born in Jackson Heights, New York to immigrant parents from Brazil. Growing up, I spoke Portuguese, Spanish and English. I loved being able to communicate with my multilingual family, friends and neighbors.
Because I was fascinated by language, I went to college to study speech-language pathology, which is the study of speech and language disorders.
Taking this a step further, after I graduated I started working for a research program called the Video Interaction Project. As a parent-child coach for this program, I worked with immigrant Spanish-speaking parents and gave advice on child development. I also gave out toys that were appropriate for their children. These families really motivated me to contribute to the Latino community on a much deeper level.
Now I am a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Ecuador! I am currently living in El Valle De Los Chillos just outside of the city of Quito. I have the pleasure of teaching English to middle school and high school students while also teaching my own course in gastronomy (food studies!) between the United States and Ecuador. As you may guess, another passion of mine is cooking.
