Ecuador is filled with natural beauty whereever you go. Natural resources stem from the Andes Mountains, but these are unfortunately being threatened by climate change. It is up to us to help fight these changes!
Quito, the capital of Ecuador, is located in the Andes, which are characterized by high elevation and scattered, snowcapped mountains.
The Andes of Ecuador is a perfect source for water, especially from the Cotopaxi Volcano. In addition, the conditions in the Andes makes it a perfect place to cultivate potatoes, faba beans and barley. Many people cultivate these products as a source of income.
However, due to climate change, Quito's weather reaches high extremes on both ends of the spectrum. Mornings are frigid and afternoons are scorching hot. Ice caps on the volcanoes are melting and such extreme temperatures cause poor crop growth.
