I had such a good time learning how to eat a new food.
The gol gappe that I ate were made out of small, puffed puris, which are a kind of round, semolina-based crispy puff that has a hole to add the flavored sauce. The man selling the gol gappe had two giant pots, both with two different flavors of sauce to add to the puris. He poured both flavors of sauce into the small hole in the puri, and then served them to us on a tiny plate. Some of the ingredients in the sauce include mint, coriander, ginger, lemon and sugar. I had never tasted anything like it before.
Street food is connected to the way people buy food in India. Grocery stores are less common in India, and there are a lot more local vendors selling snacks, vegetables and fruits. There is an amazing variety of street food. The food and the different ways in which food is prepared shows the diversity of culture in India.
