Interacting with the Local Environment

Introduction:

There are a lot of daily environmental problems that I face in India that go unnoticed to me in the United States. For example, if I buy a bag of chips to eat while walking around, I can rarely find a trash can to use when I'm finished. If I want to take a shower on a day when it has been cloudy, the water will not get as hot because our shower water is heated by solar panels. This week I observed how my neighbors interact with their environment in India. How do you think the environment impacts how people live? How do you think people have impacted the environment?

What makes this environment special or different?:

The coolest thing about India's environment is its diversity. The variety of plants, flowers and animals that can be found within a small area is incredible. There are a lot of things about the environment that I'm still learning and a lot of questions I have. For example, sometimes there are a lot of monkeys hanging out at the railway station, but most days they are nowhere to be found. Where do they go on their off days?

What parts of this environment help people to live here?:

Ample sunshine is an important part of the environment in Dehradun. There are very few imported fruits and vegetables, so there has to be good weather for local crops to grow.
