Indian weddings are so big because they are not just about the bride and groom; they are celebrations of families, communities and traditions. Family is central to Indian culture, and weddings are a big chance to bring together relatives, friends and neighbors from around the country— and sometimes from outside of India! It's not uncommon for these events to be very big, with hundreds of people in attendance.
Yes! Indian weddings vary greatly depending on religious and regional cultural traditions. Both of the weddings I have been to have been in Rajasthan, a state in northwest India. Rajasthan’s history of kings and palaces influences its weddings, making them feel like royal events. Ceremonies are often held in grand forts or heritage hotels, with luxurious decorations and regal themes. Rajasthani weddings are known to be especially colorful and vibrant!
Indian weddings often take place outside, so it's important that there won't be rain during the event. That's why most weddings are after monsoon season!
