Weddings in India are not just one-day events; they are big celebrations that usually last for several days. This season usually happens in the winter months, from November to February, when the weather is cooler and perfect for big gatherings.
Indian weddings are full of traditions, music, dancing and delicious food. Families decorate their homes with bright lights and flowers. People wear beautiful traditional clothes like Saris and Lehenga.
Each wedding has different ceremonies associated with it, depending on the religion and culture of the bride and groom. For example, in Hindu weddings there is a sacred fire, where the couple takes seven steps together, promising to support each other.
During this season, streets are often busy with wedding parades. You might even see a groom riding a horse— this is called the Bharat ceremony! Weddings in India are not just about two people getting married; they bring families and friends together for a time of joy, love and celebration.
I have been to two Indian weddings. One of the weddings was during my first trip to India in 2022. My best friend's brother got married! This weekend, I went to the wedding of my best friend's cousin, Pulkit. It was so incredible, and I was so happy to be reunited with her family.
