Meet Mia

Introduction:

For this field note, I interviewed my friend Mia, who is the little sister of a very good friend of mine. I lived with Mia and her family for a month several years ago at their home in the suburbs of Berlin. Today, Mia is 11 years old, in the fifth grade and loves singing and dancing!

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

My favorite breakfast is warm cereal with fruit. For lunch, I usually eat something warm at school, like soup or a sandwich or pasta. For dinner, my mom usually makes something yummy, or if I ate a lot for lunch, we will just have Abendbrot, which is bread with meat, cheese or other toppings.

What is your house like?:

I live in a big house on a street with lots of other houses. Our house has three floors and a big garden in the back. My bedroom is on the third floor, and from my window, I have a really nice view of our garden!

What chores do you have at home?:

I have to keep my room clean, and I help with setting and clearing the dinner table.

What jobs do your parents have?:

My dad works at an insurance firm in Berlin, and my mom works at a bank.

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

Classes always start at 8:30 AM for me. Most days, I am done at 2:15 PM, but on Fridays I get to go home early!
