This week was the 21st annual Semana del Pincho de Navarra, or Week of Pinchos of Navarra, so it's the perfect week to tell you all about the food of the region. Bars all over Navarra served their signature pincho this week.
A pincho is Northern Spain's version of a tapa, or small portion of food. Pinchos combine different textures and flavors together in aesthetically creative ways and use traditional Spanish ingredients.
As a vegetarian, unfortunately I could not try many of the signature pinchos because a lot of them have seafood or ham in them. But, I went along with my friends to see the pinchos and included some pictures for all of you to see the variety of pinchos served this week. A food that I did try this week is a very traditional Spanish dish: patatas bravas. Patatas bravas are fried potatoes served with a salsa brava, which is a spicy sauce.
