The Natural Park of Urbasa and Andía

Nowadays, the park attracts visitors who come to learn about the unique local environment and enjoy nature through hiking and other activites.

What challenges do people face living in this environment?:

While there are no people living in the park today, people are still dependent on the resources of the park. All ofthe park's flora and fauna face pressing challenges. Many species are endangered or extinct because of human activities such as cutting down of forests. The park is a protected area of land that is home to many endangered or threatened species. The hope is that by protecting this area, the endangered species can have a habitat for many years to come.

How have people been adapting to this environment?:

The area has a rich history. Archaelogical evidence found in the park showed that the people who lived in the area 100,000 years ago were hunters. Later, about 7,000 years ago, people domesticated animals and used the area to graze their cattle. Today, the park is serving the human community as a place for recreation and appreciating nature!
