Salut (hello)! My name is Sarah and I’m excited to share my experiences and adventures while living in France! I moved to the big city of Lyon, which is known as the food capital of France. Here, I will be working in a high school as an assistante de langue (language assistant), which means I help students practice English and learn about U.S. culture.
I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, in a town called Highland Park. I went to college at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana, and just graduated this year! At Butler, I studied web design (how to build new websites and improve ones that already exist), education, and French. In the future, I am excited to use my education to create educational technology tools, which means creating online websites or platforms to help students like you, learn!
I am here in Lyon through an exciting program called Fulbright. Fulbright is a program offered by the U.S. government that connects people from all over the world so they can teach, learn, and share ideas with each other. My role as an English Teaching Assistant (ETA) is exciting because I get to teach students and teachers about my language and culture, and at the same time, learn from them about French language and culture!
Want to learn how you could be a Fulbright Scholar like me? The Fulbright Program is the United States government's flagship international exchange program. Fulbrighters foster mutual understanding between the United States and partner nations, share knowledge across communities, and improve lives around the world. Learn more by clicking here!
