Our News

What main languages are spoken here?:

Czech is the main language spoken here.

What type of money is used here?:

In the Czech Republic, the currency is called Czech crowns or korunas. One U.S dollar is equivalent to about 24 korunas, so when I go shopping, I have to do a little bit of mental math to keep track of how much I'm spending.

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

A bottle of water doesn't cost very much. It usually ranges from 15 to25 koruna, which is just under or equal to a dollar.

What was the best meal this week?:

Although this isn't a very Czech meal, I finally figured out how to cook tofu with rice and veggies, and I have been having a lot of fun learning how to cook for myself.

What music did I listen to this week?:

Unfortunately, I just listened to American music. The funny thing about the Czech Republic is that almost anywhere you go out, even to local spots, you can hear American music playing, so I don't think Czech music is hugely popular. My top picks for artists are the Lumineers, Noah Kahan and Hozier.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

I went to a friend's birthday party on Thursday night, and it was really fun! We made paper crowns and ate banana bread and danced a little.  It was a sweet start to her 21st year!
